Hi All, I've seen lots of threads and videos on removing the FRONT inner fenders on a K5 but nothing on the rear. There are a series of bolts on the inside lip just as there are on the front but nothing else. I think these are seam or spot welded where the fender meets the bed but I'm not positive. Has anyone done this? Any help on disassembly (and reassembly) would be appreciated.

I have a ton of photos...let me find them.

There are a series of bolts along the point where the inner fender connects with the qtr panel. There is also a hard body sealant - consistancy of body filler but not as hard. The point where the fender meets the bed there is a series of spot welds and body filler. I unbolted everything and used a VERY thin steel wedge to get between the fender and the places it meets the qtr panel and bed.

Here are the pics. I included some of the qtr panel so you see where the fender attached.

There were spot welds where the fender attaches to the bed section. I drilled them out. Was time consuming but not hard.

What sucks is these vehicles were built by hand. The spot welds are not consistent in placement and weld penetration. If your fenders were welded by a guy that just had his wife leave him the chances of having dozens of deep spot welds is good...if you builder put yours together on a Friday at 4:40 p.m. and he got off at 5pm you will likely have a 12-20 welds. The hard part is FINDING the spot welds. Most are obvious but some will be stealthy and you wont be able to find them. After awhile you'll get good at finding them

Wow, that’s great! Thank you for the detailed answer! I had a feeling it was body putty attaching fender to bed because I hit it with a wire wheel to remove surface rust and noticed it was digging a groove. Do you have pics of your reassembly too?

I never reassembled because the rest of my original body on the Blazer was too badly corroded. The fenders in the pictures I sent were from a donor set of quarter panels that I was going to weld into place onto my existing body. It turns out that I had to get a whole brand new tub or spend 12 months and thousands and thousands of dollars replacing all of the corroded body panels.

Start with this post and go to the end. It will kind of give you a summary of where I am going with my Blazer.
