I did a little searching but came up dry. My stock springs don't appear to have a definitive long end. The tough country springs 4" that I'm putting in do have a definite longer side. Which side goes forward and which goes rear?

Rear springs come in 52" and 56" (measured eye to eye along the arch).

52" = centered pin

56" offset pin, short end = front / long end = rear

I have in a direct measurement from greasefitting of ord bolts 25 5/8s and 26 5/8s to the center pin. Measured and measured again and checked by another pair of hands and eyes.

Doesn't really matter as long as both springs are installed the same way. Obviously the short side forward will move the axle forward slightly and short side rearward will move the axle rearward slightly.

Uhuh... I understand that, but did I get a bogus pair? If they are supposed to be centered should I be calling for a new set?

Called tuff country today. The springs are designed to work without shims to correct pinion angle. The long side goes in the rear. I wonder why they don't come marked or with directions? Ord or any other dealer should mention this when you order.
