Hey everyone. I am trying to figure out the best route to go here. Right now my truck is lifted 4 inches all around with lift blocks in the back. It seems like it clunks like a mother&#$! when i shift. I had a friend kick the clutch while i looked at the rear axle and it is getting pretty bad axle wrap. is this normal for a blocked rear end? or are the springs worn out? What is the best way to cure this? i want to keep factory driveshaft as well. Is it just time to get lift springs for it?

From what I've heard that's pretty common with blocks in the rear. New rear lift springs would work but are pretty pricey and can lower your towing ability depending on which ones you get. Try looking at the shackle flip kits from ORD or DIY4X. They both have 4" versions that'll get you where you want to be and reuse your existing springs to keep your stock towing ability. Just be sure to pick up some degree shims or a new set of spring perches to correct your pinion angle if you go that route.

what do you use the truck for?

If you didn't want to mess with the suspension you could add an anti-wrap setup.

lift springs or a flip are a coupe other options as mentioned.

I have 4" blocks with an SM465, and don't get any banging at all, even during some (admittedly mild) off roading.

My only concern is that if you go with a shackle flip and your springs are already hosed, it might not fix the problem.

Thanks for all the tips gents. One of the things I needed to change was the cab mounts. After I did my "rear end clunking" went away for the most parr after putting poly cab mounts in. To bad I already bought the 4 inch lift springs from rough country. :dunno::weapon10:

Well, sure couldn't hurt to lose the blocks, now that you've bought the springs. I plan on losing mine eventually also.
