87BrnRsd are u running alloy shafts up front?? I'm consedering swaping hubs/rotors/etc to 3/4ton 8 lug units to match a 14 bolt rear w/ 5.38s and a detroit. ive got some 37x12.5 SSRs i bought from a buddy and am planning on runing them w/ a lock-rite up front and alloy shafts and ox u joints till i buy and build me a HP 60 w/ 35 spline inners and outers and a detroit, along w/ a NP241 driver drop w/ a SYE

the lockright works good on the trail just becareful with it on the street dont beat on it too much i had the pins shear off in mine and it became locked all the time, got new pins and springs and then rounded off all the teeth on the locker this all happen in about a year after i installed it and i was very careful with it for most of that time (not accelerating around turns when it was ratcheting, waiting for it to be locked before hard acceleration, ect.) even throughout this time it still would occasionally not unlock then when it would let go it sounded and felt like a sledge hammer slamming into the diff.

My Lock Right is 12 years old, in a 12 bolt with 38.5 tires. Survived 2 snaped axles and lots of rocks, hills and mud.

1985 Burb DD with 10Bs, LockRight in front and NoSlip in the rear, and lately I seem to be leading on the trails.:haha:
LockRight is not for rear axles.

lockrite does fine for me in my rear axel. Every once in a while it'll make a loud crash or bang but its all good and I keep driving.

Just make sure that if you do get a lockrite, get the hardened pinion cross shaft with it because you will wear out the couplers in the lockrite if you don't.

Just stock shafts. Im running 37x12.50 MT/R's on some really heavy steel wheels. Since the lockright has been in, the only thing ive broken so far is a warn standard hub. I have only wheeled it about 4 or 5 times since installing it, but I did beat on it quite good (especially when I exploded that hub). Anyways, I was considering running some chromo shafts but I dont have the money. If I did have the money for them but not enough for the 60, I would probaby just buy chromo shafts, and some cheap axleshaft ujoints. While the ox is probably the strongest on the market, if it lets go, you can say bye bye to the ears on the chromo shaft. If it doesnt let go, you can say bye bye to the shaft itself, or the carrier. I figure, chromo shafts and some cheapo u-joints, the $10 u-joint will break before anything else. Easy fix, especially if you have an assembled replacement with you to pop in.

I do carry a short side and a long side shaft already assembled and ready to go in if I break mine.

FYI: The stock shafts survived this incident (watch the front passenger tire): I know, I know, I was trigger happy with the gas:doah:

I stay easy on it so I dont have to hold up the whole group for stupidly snapping shafts all the time. It takes a while to re-learn how to wheel once you lock up the front. With open it was just gun it! Now, when your going and forwards progress stops, just keep the tires barely going and it usually slowly bites traction. Then again, there are always those guns it situations locked or not.:doah:

Oh...and that video is nothing compared to when I blew up the hub. I was hi-centered for 15 minutes in 4lo spinning all 4 tires and turning the wheel back and forth. Had to end up getting winched off.:doah:

i managed to blow both stock auto hubs along w/ powersteering pump and grenaded pinion in a stock jimmy w/ 33 bfg mts lol but yes ima learn to drive a lil different. a buddy of mine has a friend w/ a 14 bolt FF w/ 4.88s and a detroit. i ordered 4.88s for the rear when they blew last week so im thinkin about buyin that whole axle and swaping that under while i throw the 4.88s in the front
