Prepping 14 bolt ff for my ton swap, ready to tack in shock mount and, doh! Bolt won't pass thru. 9/16 bolt that was in my 12 bolt for years.

Ruff stuff bracket hole is .500 dia.
Heck, that's not even enough clearance for a 1/2-13 bolt
Here's a couple pics, 1 showing 9/16 bolt thru a shock bushing sleeve

Those are universal tabs for a variety of applications. Pretty easy to drill them out.

Yep, agree.
Im a toolmaker so I'll throw it in the bridgeport and open it up.

Just thought I'd check to see if years ago i put different bolts in. Been a long time since i had this all apart

my stock 12 bolt also uses 9/16” bolts.

Does anybody know what size the lower shock bolt is?? I’ve gone to ACE hardware twice and still can’t find a bolt that is big enough to fit into the shock snug, and go through the front side of shock mount. The back side of the mount appears to have a perfect sized hole, front hole seems to be minutely smaller.

After skunked told me the shock tab i was using was small so it could be universal, i opened it up to 9/16.

Which was the size the stock bolt was

Front hole on yours mushroomed possibly?

Also, i used a 9/16 drill instead of a standard .030 over clearance drill so the shock sleeve had something to bite on, they're pretty thin.

Drill walked out enough for a perfect fit

9/16”x3” and most shocks should have a sleeve through the shock bushing. Again I’m talking about the rear lower shock bolts.
