Rear main seal is leaking...like crazy

Back of the oil pan Is wet. As far as I knoe it is the rear main seal. Never had a problem with the pan leaking. What else could it be? Thanks Mike

More than likely the rear main. IIRC the '84 came with the rope seal originally (they suck), although I'ld be astonished to still see rope in there (as opposed to the newer neoprene seals - they're interchangable).
