2500, 8.1L.......Well, the leak continues to get worse. Small drips in garage and now, I'm starting to add a LOT of oil between oil changes.

I even tried using some high mileage synthetic Mobil 1 with no change. Almost seems like its leaking more!

Can't understand how, at 136,000 miles it can leak so bad. I've already put a ton on money in the brakes, ball joints, steering pump, steering box, auto-ride shocks (and now getting another service ride system error)!

Quotes I've gotten is hovering around $1,000. All that cash to just get a clean driveway....no "real improvement" like a turbo or something fun.

Anyways, frustrating because my wife's Toyota/Lexus is holding up so much better and she has slightly more miles than mine. :dunno:

Yea, I have the skid plate off and can see exactly where it's coming from. Have had a few others confirm that it's the rear main seal......

Just did the transfer case last year where the auto 4wd pump ate a pinhole in the case housing, too.

Just a lot of money going at this rig right now. Blazer is actually quite reliable (and dry/oil free)!

If it makes you feel better I see vehicles all the time at work with major leaks at under 30k miles. All the luck of the draw

Synthetic oil almost always leaks faster, since it's slippery nature allows it to get past rings/seals more easily.

It's a POA job, but can easily be done in a weekend with some help and a tranny jack.

I thought I read that somewhere too about synthetics....makes sense though. I kinda thought that already but, I decided I would give it a shot just in case.

I don't have a tranny jack nor a lift, so probably more difficult doing on the floor. Love to save $1k though so it does cross my mind.

Interesting...
