so i'm gutting out my k5 and i'm trying to plan things out for the seats that i want to put back in.
my question is how are you supposed to get into the back of the cab? idk how it was done from the factory, but my truck came with a center console, and these old seats dont pivot or move or anything, so how the hell do you get into the back? i was thking on putting a bench back in or atleast some cheapo buckets, but now i'm not sure itd be worth it if you cant even get to the back. what am i missing here guys? and what are your seat setups looking like?

I plan on putting a 60/40 seat from a 89-94 extended cab. On those the passenger side seat slides forward when you fold the back forward.

on my 86 theres a lever on the passengers seat that flips the whole seat forward, stupid design to me but i guess it worked.

I've seen one in a junkyard with that pivot seat, it was a late 70s maybe early 80s. My 87 doesn't have it. Maybe it was an option?

yeah my seats dont recline either. fixed back. and they only slide back and forth like 3".
the other thing is in my year, there's like a 5-6" lip/rise right behind the seats, so i cant really mount them on a longer track or anything.

If this is for your 76 Jimmy the passenger side seat flips forward (the whole seat). I used to have a 76 Blazer before somebody wanted it more than me.

you know i just discovered that last night when i took the pass seat out (ripping out carpet and interior to bedline.)((and when i say discovered that, i mean i flipped it backwards after i took out the front bolts & saw the hinge but couldnt figure out wtf it was for, and now that you say that, it makes perfect sense and i bet the seat would be easier to take out to. dammit))
but i want to get a new set of seats. atleast for the fronts, my dog ate half of my rear seat which is what started me thinking bout just leaving it out. but i know i have to be able to carry a 3rd person atleast once in a while.
sorry to hear bout your 76 man. do you have any photos of it?
oh yeah, just got off the phone with the machine shop. :wink1:

After having to climb in the back all the time my 4 year old told me I needed to use the torch to cut a back door. :D I think the sliding seat may turn out better...

gotta give em credit for a good idea, or like a little access hole in floor pan, lol. you can crawl in like a beaver den. lol

I have front buckets from an 05 Silverado and the rears are the 50/50 third row from an 05 Tahoe. It's nice cause the front passenger flips foward and the driver side is powered. The rears flip up and come out in a snap which is great too.
