My 79 K5 seems to have had a rear seat that bolted down in the front, I guess as part of the fold n flip option. Do I have to find one like this or is there a way to make the seats with the four latch points work? If it has to have the bolt in seat, what year did they stop using them? Are they blazer only or did the suburbans of the same years have the bolt in seats as well?

My general impression is that the third seat for the Burbs of any given year is the same as the rear seat of the Blazers for those years. I am reasonably sure that said seats are the same for '73 through '77, when the pan changed. These seats bolt down on all four corners.

After that I'm a little vague. My '85 CUCV had the bolt-in-front-but-fold-n-flip seat, but CUCV's are a little odd as they're all basically '83-84 trucks as far as parts go.

Correspondingly, my '90 Burb had the fully removable, i.e. four latch point, third seat.

I would *assume* (and we know what that spells) that the break is somewhere between '85 and '90.

I would also assume that to make the four-latch seat fit into your K5 you'd need to cut out the latch sections from the floor and weld them into your truck, which seems like waaay too much work when you should be able to scrounge the right seat for your truck.

I put a 90' sub rear seat in my 87' blazer. The bolt mounts transfered over to sub rear seat. Even though the sub seat used a latch they still had the mounts for the bolt hardware on the seat. Check to make sure but that's how it worked for me.

Got any pics, or a good description of what the bolt in mounts look like? I have an 86 and 2 89 seats and briefly looking I don't see anything but the 4 latches.

TTT Are the little tubes next to where the front latches mount what you are talking about? IF thats the case I have those, I guess I just need to find the rest of the mount stuff.

I don't have my Blazer bench seat nearby(it's a few miles up the road in the barn), but my Suburban's 3rd seat is in my room right now..

The front part of the seat on the Sub has hooks(like the rear part). The rear latches look the same but the fronts won't work. The front hooks do unbolt though.. maybe the blazer brackets will bolt right on, don't know.

My owners manual for the 91 Blazers and Subs shows the seats as bolting down in the front still in the 91 Blazer.

Yes those are it. Mine were a tiny bit off when I put the seat in but a little muscle and it went in no problem.
