I lifted the rear of my 81 k10 sub 4" with a DIY shakle flip and the front with 3" springs. What are the odds I will have to shime my rear axle (a swaped in 14blt)? I have a np208 tcase if that matters. I do not have a rear shaft right now as I am trying to decide if I want to swap in a np205 and I would like to go ahead and put the shims in now bofore I botton everything up. And who makes some shims, I looked at ORD and DIY and did not see any. Also does the shim just sit between the spring and axle perch? Is there a hole in it that matches the spring pack bolt? If that is the case do you have to put a longer spring bolt in? Any help would be great, THANKS

if your gonna put in a different t-case i would wait on the shims. you need to have the driveshaft in and the weight of the vehicle on the springs to determine angle. the shim goes between the axle and the spring and the center bolt goes thru it. buy steel shims, not aluminum. if you already cut off your center pins, you will need longer ones.

Also depending if you're running the factory slip yoke shaft or if you're going to run a CV shaft determines what the angle needs to be. With the stock slip yoke shaft you need the t-case output and the pinion to be the same angle while using a CV shaft you need to point the pinion directly at the t-case (2* downward is best though to account for axle wrap).

4X4HIGH I notice you have the np241, did you do the sye kit or do you run the slip yoke? If you do have a slip yoke how has it been for you, any major complaints? Other than the fluid loss if it slips out (that's what she said)? Because I am trying to decide if it is worth it to switch tcase to get rid of the slip yoke. Let me know. THANKS

I have never had a problem with the slip yoke on my truck and I wheel it hard. The SYE is good for gaining back some length in your rear drive shaft.

i think having the slip yoke in the shaft is better then on the t-case. if you trash your driveshaft you can simply remove it with out it leaking out t-case fluid.

I run a SYE kit with a CV driveshaft. Like was said, if you bust a driveshaft you just pull it out and lock your front hubs and keep driving.

I did a similar lift and needed shims with the 208. then I got a 241 sye just for the sake of getting rid of the shim. Had no problem with the slip yoke but the angle with the SYE was better for me so I said **ck it and found a 241 in a junkyard.
