So I'm trying to figure out rear shock mounting for my truck.

No bed on the truck, 64" springs, relocated the rear spring hanger forward 9.5" to accommodate the longer springs which in turn moved my axle forward a few inches.

I saw these shock mounts that weld onto your spring plates from Ruffstuff. The shock would have to run in line with the frame.

What would be the best angle/ degree to run a shock with the upper shock mounting point is forward of the lower/ axle side of the shock to get the most out of the shock?

Does running it at an angle like that pose any issues?

Is it more beneficial to run the shock off of the spring plate or just use a shock mount on the axle tube?

IMO, if your going to the trouble to outboard your rear shocks just weld tabs outside of your spring perches onto your axle tubes. You get that last little bit of leverage over the axle.

Running your shocks out as far as possible on the axle helps with stability and ride and running them as vertical as possible and inline with axle/shock travel they will function the best. The upper mounts should be to the rear of the axle on the frame since your axle swings in an arc that way with the shackles at the rear. Since you have no bed those u-bolt plates would work good since you can move the upper mount as high as you need too. My lower mount is right behind my brakes and on top of the axle tube as short as I could get it to clear my springs so that my upper towers going through the body could be as short as possible. The way those lower mounts are in that pic above gets you a few more inches lower than mine but out of the way of rocks still. I just wanted mine to be simple and quick to design and install so I could get it done fast at work.

I do like how you ran tubes through the frame though

I have 5" lift 64" springs with 1 1/2" blocks and my 12" travel shocks mounted at the center of their travel and I can max them out no problem. I am running 6" shackles in the standard orientation too.

Do you have a pic of how your shock are mounted?

And I'm like the exact opposite of you. 4" shackle flip, 6" shackles, stock (4+1) 64's
