I have an 89 3/4 ton suburban. My rear shocks are about rusted through and are getting replaced soon. The local u-pull-it has a bunch of 1/2 ton burbs, k5s and pickups. Was wondering if the shocks were interchangable between the different models and 1/2 vs 3/4 tons?

Yes they are interchangeable, but do yourself a favor and buy new shocks. For $50 or less you can get stock replacements with lifetime warranty. Shocks are a safety component and NOT worth skimping on.

i have to agree. i got my rear shocks at autozone (more like "wtf is a car? zone") for $40 apiece. no-name brand but iirc they're made by monroe. it's been a few years so i'd have to check to be certain. anyway, they work MUCH better than my old worn out set did. totally worth it.
