Ok, so I was looking for some help and advice on doing my rear springs. I'm not 100% sure if I should do 56" in the rear of my blazer or 63":dunno: I have searched and searched and just not coming up with all the info I was hopping for. So to give you guys some back round info I have an 86 K5 with a 383/th400/4 speed atlas with a welded dana 60 up front and welded 14 bolt out back on 37" Goodyear Wrangler Military Oz's. And lastly the plan is to end up on 42"-44" tire with beadlocks when done. I knowing admit that I will be beating on the blazer pretty hard when I do get a chance to take it out. I already have DIY4X's a bomb ready to go in up front once I'm done with the rear. I have DIY4X's shackle flip for the rear and ready to go in but I'm still not sure what I want/ should do. I also know and would plan on building an anti wrap bar for the 63". So please let me know what you guys think and also let me know of anything like having to move the spring hangers and anything else I didn't think about.

What's your goal for swapping longer springs? To get more flex? If so, 56"s will give you good flex and are easy to swap in. They only require installing your shackle flip backwards to accommodate the extra length and keep your axle in the stock location.

63"/64"s will require you to move a minimum of one spring mount. Both spring mounts will have to be moved if you want to keep the axle in stock location.

**Edit:** This should get you started.

Yeah my goal is more flex. ok so I guess now the next question is what have most guys with 63"/64"s done? Do most move both spring mounts and keep the axle centered or just make it easier on themselfs and only move one of the rear spring mounts? And for those guys with 63"/64" that join in please tell me why you choose to do what whatever you did and your thought process behind it please.

stan1688 has it right. I just finished intalling 56's in the rear of my 86 k5. They are just about as simple as it gets. Just like he said, I just installed my ORD flip brackets "backwards" (so they are angled to the rear) with some 6" shackles, and it flexes really good. You can get away without a anti-wrap bar with 56's, but it's pretty much a must with 63's. But those 63's do flex like a mother trucker. Just depends on what you really want and how much work you want to do to get them in there.

Edit: while I was writing this you both posted again, haha

See I am a glutton for punishment and 63s are so much easier to find for me.

I would move both perches and run the 63s but hey if your gonna go through that much trouble why not inboard them to one ton width, that will help with flex too. You know downward spiral and all :D

Also I have always had this dream of going fast through the desert and the longer springs are better for that
