Trying to figure out a semi cheap option for my rear suspension. I have a 97 1500 silverado 4x4. ext cab. Looking to upgrade my payload capacity a little so it is squatting down so much when I have a trailer on the back. Any suggestions. I know there is a add a leaf option, compression bump stops, or swapping in 3/4 ton springs. what ya say?

Add a leaf is the cheap option. Air bags are better and more expensive.

Make sure you're not overloading the truck :deal:

The truck towing limit is 6600lbs. I am not quite sure what the payload is. I know that I really am not exceeding a real heavy amount weight. hooking onto a 9" chipper weighing about 3000's it squats down pretty good and there isn't a lot of tongue weight on the chipper.

I did the Firestone air bags on my 99 Tahoe and love it! paid around $340 for the kit and like it for towing my older 21foot travel trailer. I had to replace my sway bar with the air bag kit as they occupied the same space but have them dialed in nicely for dd duty :D
