Anyone try upgrading from the plastic cam rollers to bearing rollers on the rear tailgate window regulator? The plastic cam rollers on mine are cracked and missing.

I did it. It takes a fair bit of work to find the right shouldered bolt/screw and as I recall still had to do some grinding on them to fit.

My tailgate has enough wrong with it that I didn't notice a difference compared to the flat spotted original roller. Kind of disappointing, but it surprises me the plastic ones hold up as well as they do. But replacing plastic with plastic IIRC cost me more than the parts to make it bearing.

My Internet sucks, but I'm pretty sure I posted at least part of what I had done/used. Search my username and something along the lines of rear window bearing, roller, etc and you might find it. Success: https://ck5.com/forums/threads/power-tailgate-improvement.324489/#post-3603196

Having just riveted on new plastic rollers, i'm kinda wishing i'd fashioned up some bearings instead. Even with new rollers, the design is shit from the start. New parts doesn't help much at all.

I have a metal lathe so with the right bearing I can make a shoulder bolt.

I was thinking of the delrin wheels that I use on 3d printers. They get quite a lot of mileage so I bet they would hold up to the window usage pretty well.

They are rated for quite a bit more weight than the printer gives them. Just a thought. I'm sure there are better options out there. I'd love to see a full write-up if anyone ever decides to document it as they go along.
