rear trans seal

my tranny is leaking into my transfer case (700r4/241). the trans is a fresh rebuild and still leaks. i was told the seal is actually in the front of the transfer case, and not in the rear of tranny. i've looked online for replacement seals, but can only find a rear tranny seal, no front transfer case seal. is this the right part?

hey im having the exact same problem. 30 miles on a new trans and my 205 is filled with atf. so instead of screaming at the guy who rebuilt my trans i went and saw a buddie at gm and he broke the news to me it is the seal in the transfer case. he said it was called the main input seal for the transfer case hope it helps

Yes the rear of my th350 is wet. I think that all the gm have fluid in the rear at the adapter to lube the trans input shaft. I know this because mine was leaking from the adapter but no atf in the trans.

I think that seal you need is gm part number 03979626

thats probally the case ill tell you alittle later i got to replace my seal this weekend if it doesent rain yours is probally leaking from the adapter seal

had the exact same problem with my th400 and np203.. the local tranny guy fixed that and my parking pawl for only $144...

I personally didn't have the tools, time, knowledge, or gnad to take on that project.

Yes mine was the adapter o-ring. Slip the case back about 5" and got it installed without having to drop my case No more leaks. First time since 1979 that nothing has been leaking on her.
