Rear uj

it's no big deal colbystephens...i got there in the end, plus you've probably lernt something as well. Thanks anyway.

Right, after heating up the prop and melting the plastic the end caps fell off...no prob.Ordered a new UJ from Germany from a dealer who gets all his parts from the US.Part arrived,...end caps to wide and external clips. Now where in the states can i order one that has internal clips and and fits the prop with the plastic bits.Oh..and takes credit card and ships to the UK???.Any ideas?? Bye the way vehicle is a 85 blazer M1009.

Sure looks like it. Did you use their application guide?

yup,i still have one of the old endcaps so i measured the diameter of it.Where it says on the page "check to make sure this part fits your application".I clicked on it all the models come up..of course they don't have M1009 so what is the civi eqivalent?

Chevy Blazer or GMC Jimmy

Engine shouldn't matter. The only difference is with or without 4-spd manual trans.

I realize this. All M1009s were autos.
I was just saying that all Blazer/Jimmy/M1009 trucks in those years use the same u-joints, except for the ones with 4-spd manual trans.
Just wanted you to know that there are two different u-joints available for the same year and to make sure you get the right one.

ofcourse a 14bff didn't come in the civi blazer option, tho, so checking by civil application may not work too well.

14bff didn't come on any M1009s, either. They came with a 10-bolt, 3.08 ratio gov-lock.

If someone has changed axles, no application guide is going to be able to help them and that person should already be aware of any interchange of parts.

hmmm. didn't know that. i thought all the military blazers/trucks were at least one ton. shows what i know.

Thanks for the help Goldwing, part ordered.By the way the orig gov lock diff has been thrown out as it ate the teeth on one of the cogs.I was going to replace it with another gov lock but was told the gov locks are prone to munching teeth. So i put a bog standard diff in.

wow, Ive never seen a rear shaft with the injected plastic. Ive only seen that done on the front shaft. maybe all the ones Ive seen have already had the u-joints replaced with the internal clips.:dunno:
