Dremu had one in the k5 I bought from him.
Mine was the same as yours, it had a window not the whole mirror and I could still see through the unused section.I installed similar. Not as functional, but same idea...back up camera display, direction, temp. Big difference I see is that mine has the small window for display, vs. using the whole mirror as the display. This is that thread: https://ck5.com/forums/threads/fit-retrofit-backup-camera.330094/
By the way, last trip out, it popped the windshield button off. Mirror ended up dangling off the wires. The mirror isn't massively heavy, but clearly heavier than the adhesive could cope with.
Personally, the do-everything units like the Atoto hold more interest. If I was going to go to the effort to install something again, that's the route I'd go. I probably will anyway, they aren't a ton more than what I installed, but far more uses.
Aftermarket touch screen do-everything's?
If someone has installed similar, I've missed it, apologies. Don't have the money right now, but these units seem to be quite affordable. Since I don't run a dash pad, making some sort of mount for these would be easy I'm sure. I've read this one is a pretty good middle of the road unit...lot...ck5.com
That's cool!I ise this one.
it uses an app on your phone, and is very clear.
I would buy it again.

Isnt that the case even with factory equipped vehicles? Would seem ideal would be have camera mounted inside, on the glass of a suburban barn door. Only square that could pull that location off without limiting functionality of tailgate of blazer or suburban. But then still have to deal with a dirty window, but likely less of an issue at the near highest point of the vehicle. The biggest issue I would plan for is losing your rear view driving in bad weather as the camera gets covered with debris and road grime.
Yes, you turn on the magnetic mounted (very strong too) camera, open the app, and connect w the wifi camera on your phone settings, and its similar to this (a screen shot from the app). And its actually much clearer than this while in use.So you view the image on your phone when backing up?
well thats kinda interesting seeing as how i already have a dash mount for my phone that i like!Yes, you turn on the magnetic mounted (very strong too) camera, open the app, and connect w the wifi camera on your phone settings, and its similar to this (a screen shot from the app). the camera head can be rotated for further away objects (as in the app shot) or close up when hooking up a trailer, pointing mostly toward the hitch mount on your vehicle. If you’ve used the GM backup camera, it is similar to that. It saves getting in and out of the vehicle multiple times while trying to line up with the trailer.
I've used it on the back of the trailer too, when parking it.

Do you have to open the app intentionally (hey, im planning to park, let me open the app) or does a notification pop up and automatically open the app/camera?Yes, you turn on the magnetic mounted (very strong too) camera, open the app, and connect w the wifi camera on your phone settings, and its similar to this (a screen shot from the app).
