I'm going to be slicing out the rear wheel tubs on my K5 to narrow it and was wondering if anyone had any pointers. I notice pictures of rigs on here of just rear the tubs taken out so it seems pretty easy. All I can see it just some sort of body filler along the seams. But then again I always start a project of the K5 thinking that it's going to be easy and straight forward and end up working and cursing until midnight. Just thought I would ask before I start.

The older stuff has bolt in wheelhouses, but the '91 is spot welded in place. At least at the floor area. Kinda like the tranny tunnel...

They are bolted to the inner fender along the wheel well arch. If you reach your hand in from the outside of the truck and feel up into the wheelwells you will feel the bolt heads.

When I dovetailed my '90 I was also installing new bedsides, so with them off I was just going to pull the tubs out to modify them but quickly decided not to bother and just cut them while still on the truck. As mentioned above they are spot welded then have seam sealer on them. Probably not that big of a deal to pull them off but it does take a little bit of time.
