Hey guys. I'm about to install DIY's 4.5 inch shackle flip to get rid of my 4 inch blocks. I have 8 inch Superlift springs in the back and have seen quite a few rigs that have the axle moved forward because of the flip, and I have seen where it's not hardly noticable. I've searched threads off and on for about 2 days on this and haven't really found the setup like I will be running. I need to see if I need to go ahead and buy a zero rate for the rear and move the axle back now while everything is torn down or of it'll be alright. I really don't like the way an axle looks off center, especially toward the front. I've also read here that the rear springs can actually be turned around but I don't know if mine are centered or not because of the lift. Can anyone help me with my quandry before I go to button this thing back up? I'd like to see what some of y'all have done. Oh, and if it helps, my finished setup will be: 4.5 flip and switch, 8 inch rear springs, (zero rate??), and a 14 bolt FF with 44" TSL's with uncut fenders :D . Thanks in advance!

this is mine with ORD flip on the wrong sides and back 3",56" springs in backwards minus 4 leaves,3.5" blocks and 42's. you can see that i had to cut the rear of the fender off, but they now stuff into the wheelwell very well and do not rub at all. I originally thought i would need wheel tubs to stuff the tires but no.
i originally had the stock 52s, but the tires where touching the front of the wheel wells at ride hight. that's when i decided to go 56 and not cut the front of the wheelwell.
i think with that much lift you might have to just try it first, and then go from there.

Depends if your rear springs are 52" or 56", as the 52"s are symmetrical and the 56"s aren't, they're offset. However, depending on gas tank/skid plate and rear diff, you may not be able to reverse the springs.

Point being that many people reverse the shackle flips left-to-right for the 56"s, so you'll see some variation there. I hate to say it, but it's different for eevry truck, so try it on yours and see.

those superlift 8"ers are gonna be alot diff. than any other for length because they where designed for the stock tension shackle. they even rolled the rear spring eye the other way so the spring would not rub the shackle bucket. Do it and show some pics of what happened.

I remember calling Superlift to inquire about the right way to mount the springs since I bought them from someone that were new but did not have any paperwork on them. Dude told me that right way to mount them because of the way they were built so I guess turning them around is not an option. I guess I'll buy a zero rate and try that and see what happens, thanks guys!
