First of all.....my apologies, newbie questions & i did search for answers. Just bought an '88 K5 and i'm trying to fix it up to be a "toy". After reading several posts about power vs. manual i decided to go to a manual rear window. Thanks to LMC & $450 later i am in the process....which was a lot easier than expected & need to clarify a few things.

1) Should i cover gears with lithium grease or leave them dry...we live on a dusty gravel road and i'm afraid it will get gummed up.
2) What kind of glue/caulk do i need to use to seal/fix glass to window sash... i thought the rubber filler would "stick" them together... it doesn't!!
3) Is there a trick to getting the lock together? I put it all together but it seems like in either key position the crank still works and does not just free wheel...the pawl still catches the clutch.
4) I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the amount of space left between the handle and base when it is in the closed position. There is almost a half inch gap left when the handle is closed and locked in place...is that normal?? It looks like sh*t!! Should i have ordered the crank handle from somebody else??

THANK YOU MUCH for any and all help.... i will be joining!! I appreciate the info!!
