Hi Everyone,
my 83 K5 diesel blazer is starting to have trouble with the automatic rear window. It always goes down. However it does not always go back up immediately. It usually requires that I open the tailgate and close it. Now however, it only goes up whenever it wants. I opened the panel that conceals the window but everything looks pretty much fine. Does anyone know what may be the problem? Or has anyone ever rebuilt their back window? Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tyler

On the driver side latch on the tailgate there are like 4 screws. Behind is a switch that allows for connection only when the tailgate is up. Mine was cracked and was cutting the power. The fact that it works after you open and close it seem like it may be that.

I just disconnected it and tied the wires together so I can open it in the down position and slide the window onto a sawhorse and grease the gears up.

Thanks

Hi Dueling,
Thank you for the high details in your post. I'm going to check into it this weekend if the weather is good. I appreciate it.

No problem. Be sure to take the cover off and vacuum out any junk and get some type of grease on the gears. Really helps it move up and down.

I didn't last time but next time I grease them I think I'll use a graphite type that won't let all the sand etc stick to it.
