I went about replacing the manual crank handle assembly on my 87 because it was broke. I also replaced the felt on the window tracks on both sides, and in the process of replacing the the outer stripping also. Have two problems after i started re-assembling. The actuator is really close to hitting the glass, maybe it was that way before, but it looks sketchy anyways. The other issue is the window won't roll down all the way. I did have this problem before as well. I can't tell what's preventing it from going doing the last two inches. Any suggestions?

The second picture it looks like the bolts are pushing against the regulator. I think those are the bolts for the crank assembly, you need to get them away from the regulator.

well i thought i solved the problem a bit with using a washer on the handle bolts, and got everything put back together only to find out now the handle won't lock in place on the outside. The only pieces i didn't replace was the clutch on the back on the handle that engages the regulator, the lock cylinder and the regulator itself. Hoping i can remove the window again without tearing up the weatherstripping. Shoulda probably waited on this project until the 100 degree weather is gone, ha.

The window doesn't roll down all the way. The picture you posted looks like all the way down. At that point it hits a piece that unlocks the tailgate latch. Everything looks normal in your pictures, but I will check on mine right now just to be sure

Thank you. On the manual it shows a gasket, part 87. Not sure what that is, but I have part 86 only, and I'm wondering if thats my issue. Lmc doesn't show two different parts.

As luck would have it I just replaced that piece. The threaded stud on one side of it wasn't screwed all the way in. You shouldn't have to put washers on it.

I did check that, and that isn't the problem for me in this case... I'm dumbfounded. The regulator does not sit as flush as i feel it should when the crank assembly is in, and when it's all put together, i can't close the crank handle.

I replaced my tailgate a long time ago and for whatever reason, I could never seem to get that dang handle assembly back on exactly as it was before I messed with it. Works and all, just not exactly lined up and flush.

For my '74, the window goes all the way into the gate. I seem to recall you could reinstall the regulator back with the gears (or whatever you call them) meshed incorrectly such that they weren't in-sync. When you reassembled, is there a chance you didn't start with them meshed in the full down position?

i hadn't considered having the regulator all the way down and then assembling. Certainly worth a shot. Thanks.

I don't feel like its correct, i had to use a few spacers on each side of the latch studs and some on the regulator bolts themselves. Not 100% confident in rolling up and down a lot with it, but it's up, and the latch attaches. Maybe some day i'll figure out more on it, but i need to change projects for a bit, ha...
