Rear Window Problems

I am having problems with my rear window. I can crank it up but when I do only the right hand side goes up, I have to pull the other side up by hand. What is involved in repairing this?? Also the lock cylinder is missing is that tough to replace??

Mine's and '87, maybe this applies, and if I'm wrong someone correct me:
When my tailgate got real rusty it did that, and still does--
The window sits on two rails, one on the left and one on the right. If one of those is rusty, it may have broken and now won't push the widow up. Somehow, it holds it up while i'm driving, haven't figured that out yet...
You can take the access panel off on the inside, then it's pretty self-explanitory.

Sounds like the left side is hanging up on something. Like Arrowhead stated, take off the access panel and look around. It's probably an easy fix.

Do a search on rear window..you'll come up with all kind of fixes and things to look for and helpfull hints..I know, I did. Just my .02

OK, I can be your resident know-it-all cause I put one on along with a floor this summer. Haha, j/k, well I guess don't know that much but after having it in a million pieces I have a general idea of this PIA. I would more than likely go with the post above. The bottom of the glass has theses strips that arms of the gear mechanisim rid on to push it up. They use little plastic wheels in those strips so things can move and more than likely one of those wheels has come off or something. Not to bad to think, just pop the cover.

BTW, you have to unbolt the "regulator assembly" (scissors that the window moves on, and the motor) to get the lock cylinder "housing" off. 4 bolts for the regulator assembly, 2 for the housing. Going to have to find another tailgate for parts though sounds like, the lock cylinder is held in with a weird wave washer. Hopefully it just fell down inside the door though.

Had the same problem w/ mine, the metal guides can slide and fall off, just take it apart(access panel) and root around for the guide and put it back on, the reason the windows stay up while driving is that the glass falls between the plastic wheel and metal frame arm and is able to sit in the gap pretty snug, unless you jar it good enough, hope this helps, it's only 2 cents you know
