New to this site, and first post so if its in the wrong place please go easy... Having a problem with the rear power window. Will go up fine, but will not go down with dash switch. have searched threads and have removed cable and used drill to operate up and dowm so no issues with track. Have also disconected the safety switch and jumped it,still nothing. the motor hums away when going up but makes no noise at all when switch is put in down position. So my question is, could this possibly be a bad motor or do you think i may have a break in the down wire somewhere? Also didnt have a chance to look but where do the wires usualy run inbetween the gate and dash switch? thanks for any input.. (GREAT SITE, Have only owned the truck for a week now, and have used threads to work out quite a few bugs)

Take the plug out of the back of the switch and jump it to see if the switch is bad. If it is good then check for voltage at the motor while some one presses on the switch. Remember the motor grounds through the body and there are two wires to the motor. One up and one down.

now that you mentioned it ,there are two wires running to the motor, they have been zip tied together, im asumeing just to hold out of the way of the window track, but zip tied with them is a third wire that is cut. it seems to be speaker wire though. i remember thinking when i saw it that there was no hole cut in the gate for speakers and couldnt figure why it would be there. could this be someones attempt to jerry rig a new ground?

Make sure your rocker switch does not have a small crack on the face of switch. Mine was doing the same thing other than go down but not back up. What happened in this case is the crack allowed movement in the switch arm that throws the copper contact in the back. Allowing it to make contact one direction but not the other. So i removed the switch and flooded the void in the back with epoxy, firming up the switch arm. Been working great ever since.
