Rear window stuck down...

The safety switch should be on the drivers side latch. Easiest way to get to it is open the gate, get some help(if you don't have any help, just make sure you support the glass while it is sticking out), and remove the 4 bolts at the bottom of the glass that hold the glass to the regulator. Slide the windshield to the up position and have your buddy (or some other support) hold the glass. Find the wires running to the safety switch, pull them off the switch and use a jumper to connect them, then test the motor with the dash switch. If the motor works fine, you can move the regulator arms to center them on the access opening, then reconnect the window to the regulator. Just make sure you test it since it is a fairly easy operation to swap a motor while the glass is already out of the way in the up position, much more work if you put it back together then pull it apart again.
Highlighted for the easiest solution. Just get one of those blue wire taps, cut out the plastic block-off-end part from the inside of the tap, slip it over the two wires and snap it shut. It's a 10 second fix.

Just don't use one of those "taps" in hard to reach places/important wiring.

I have had so many headaches with those things on smaller gauge wiring. Alarm shops use them all the time and cause weird electrical problems under the dash.

After a couple years they basically destroy the wire the rest of the way or introduce corrosion that stops it from conducting

A cut and properly crimped butt connector is much better, solder and heatshrink is the best.

I usually crimp and heatshrink to protect from moisture/keep the ends pulling out, a little compromise that doesnt have me busting out the soldering iron for every little thing

I know I'm a few years too late but last night I got a new tailgate with the glass in it stuck down just like yours and couldn't get at the sensor, I unscrewed the plastic tubed metal cable that goes into the window motor and twisted it with my fingers and the window rolled out, bolted the tailgate in and latched it where it should be and then hooked a drill gun up to the cable and rolled the window up far enough to get at the sensor and solve the problem. Hope this helps any people recently having this problem.

On a K5 you can remove the latch on the side of the tailgate and the switch comes out with it. You just have to disconnect the link rod, IIRC. Then you can take the switch apart, clean the contacts and put it back together. From the big access panel you can barely see the switch, but you can reach in there enough to unplug the connector and get to the link rod.
