I know the rear window can be a dirty word around this place. However, after recently having a LOT of paint and body work done on my 83 K5, the rear window has a large crack in it after driving it for about 3 months. My theory is that the top was put back on without the hidden bottom bolts at the back of the shell and this caused stress on the glass. Do any of you guys know the measurement of those bolts? I'm going to SLOWLY roll the back window down today to see what is going on.

Yup, never had those bolts when I got the truck in 09. Still don't have them. No issues with the glass or sealing or top shifting.

Well, I haven't dug into it yet. You guys have any ideas what could be causing the window to crack like that? I have one coming from top left corner and one coming from top right corner.

Are you sure that ALL of the guide felts are in place and in good shape? If not this will allow the glass to rattle around and crack/break.

Yeah I don't think it's the lack of the hidden bolts. They didn't even start including those until, I think, the late '80s. I know the '70s trucks didn't have them. Many people, once they take them out, never put them back in.

BlazerFarm, I think you may have nailed it. No felt on the outside and none on the inside. Hopefully that solves my problem, the glass was in real bad shape anyway and was on my list of things to do so this impetus may be a blessing.

Umm. pretty sure it was ME who suggested you might be missing some window channel felt.
