Is the rear window supposed to go down all the way? Mine stops without about 2 inches of window still sticking out.

Yes, ALL the way. You might have some crap or debris in the bottom of the tailgate or something with the cable, etc.

Ok, took it apart a minute ago and cleaned all the junk from the bottom, it had come off one of the criss cross rollers but it still won't go all the way down.

Most of the ones I have been around don't go all the way down.

Interesting, I guess it isn't a huge deal. I just feel like it could get in the way or get scratched at the top trying to put stuff in the back.

On my 90, the window sticks up about a inch,it is power, and it has always been about a inch,I have owned this since 92,so I know it has never been messed with to much,I did have to replace the drive cable a couple years ago

Copy that. At this point it is just more important that it is on track. I just didn't really understand, it seems that it would make it much easier to damage the window. I don't really throw too much back there but a toolbox, still though.

How do these things track, aside from the little criss cross gear they are on? Mine still seems to be going up crooked and now is sticking after readjusting it on the little horizontal track on one side.

There is actually a safety mechanism in the bottom of the tailgate that prevents you from opening the tailgate unless the window is down. It looks like a little handle with a spring on it if you have the access panel off. If it opens the window must be pretty far down. Possibly that piece won't let the window finish opening. It's also possible the years in the regulator are off by one tooth. I would think a good visual inspection would reveal why it won't bottom out. I'm on my 3rd rear glass and it has always gone down far enough that 1/4" or so is showing at the center and that's it.

Mine sticks out a bit too. Always has, and I've taken it apart a few times. Never really spent much time figuring out why. Agree that it's ripe for being broken when I'm trying to put a 200+CF compressed gas cylinder in the back. :)

Personally it would seem a way to keep it from rattling/getting off track too much. Once it drops into the seal, it might be a lot harder to keep that window from getting under the lip of the gate/seal.

Yeah after tearing mine apart this weekend, getting it back on track, and cleaning out all the mud/leaves inside I'm just gonna call it quits. It at least goes up and down.
