Rebuild kit for a th400?

Which rebuild kit do you recommend for the th400 4x4. I have seen a couple but not sure which one to get. Ebay has some but are non name brand going for $75 - 120.00 What do you recommend I get to rebuild? Also, what advantage does a shift kit have, should I get it or not? Thanks for all your help. One of the last things I need to complete my K5 build-up. After this all I need is driveshafts and I am done. Thanks everyone for your help, its greatly appreciated.

my freiend runs TRANS STAR kits . best bang for the buck in his opinon. thay hold up to his big block chevy and all his buddys trucks and my truck also.
