I know it has been a while, latest update, I blew up that 5.7 vortec that I slapped in the Blazer. So I snagged another one out of a wrecked 1500 and tore it down and I am finishing up a complete rebuild on it. Problem is, I forgot where the extended bolts go on the oil pan. I know two of them go next to each other on the passenger side toward the front for the transmission lines bracket, and there is a third one that goes somewhere, but I just cant remember. Any ideas?

I can't say for sure, but can you check what holes are deep enough with a depth gauge or piece of wire? I'm willing to bet they go near the timing cover.

The lengths of the threads on the bottom of the bolts are all the same.

Oh, damn. I'm guessing the area with the highest stress would require the longer bolt. There's quite a few pro engine builders around here that will be of more help, but I'm willing to bet the long ones go near front seal.

I'm probably using the wrong terminology, I am talkig about the bolts that have thread coming out of the top for attaching brackets with a nut

Stud bolts...

I usually place them all in, but don't torque anything down until I know what brackets go where, once that's fingered out, I'll torque them down.

Oh...hmm. I believe I had those on the passenger side to hold positive cable to starter as well as other wires. I would put them wherever you think they would be most helpful for securing cables or lines. I'll see if I can see the bolts under my Tahoe to give you a better idea.

Awesome, thanks, that's kinda what I was hoping for, someone who had one who could take a peak
