has anyone ever rebuilt and beefed up their stock 10 bolt axles? and if so how did they perform? im upgrading to 40 to 44s and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with this and how it worked out.

You're running 40" tires right now and you want to go to 44"s on your stock 10 bolts? Have you already regeared?

usually it is cheaper to buy 1 ton axles than to rebuild 10 bolts. especially when you start breaking the 10 bolts. i would look for a 14 bolt ff and dana 60

i have 37s right now, but im going to 40's thru 44's, im not sure yet. ive heard the same thing about the 1 tons. ive been looking but i cant find any as of right now, their all atachted to trucks and want to much for them.

I beefed up my 10bolt with Chromoly Strange axles, all new bearings and seals. stuffed it with Yukon 4:10gears and loc rite locker in the back. I am only running 33s right now and may go to 35s but I would not go any taller than that with a 10bolt. I dont wheel hard or often so my stuff will hold up for awhile. IF you hammer the hell outa your rig, you may be go thru the 10bolts and if you breaking expense parts, its not worth it. If I were to run 37s and up, id go 14ff for sure.
