my friends wants him k5 back. he has some upgrades for it and a complete tci kit. he does not have the cash for a shop to do it. we have in out in my shop. not sure we should try this. both of use have never done this before. so good or bad idea?

thanks

my buddy did one. he said it wasn't too bad. just really need to take your time and make sure you have a good detailed shop manual for the trans.

shop manual, thats a good idea
does the area need to be very clean? my shop is messed up right now

id say that trans rebuilds are more critical than motor builds. you def. wana clean ur shop really good and make sure u dont get any of that oil aborb crap in the trans. i would also call around and see if anyone has one of the big steam cleaners (most machine shops have them) and see how much it would cost to have your transmission case cleaned. you want everything to be super clean no grime or sludge in the case. otherwise i guess you could get a ton of brake clean and some stiff brushes.

Cleanliness is a must for any build of an engine or tranny. If the area is dirty and dirt gets inside an engine or tranny it could mean the difference between being very happy with the outcome or very unhappy.

You'll need access to a press, and a couple of specialty tools. Once you have them though, you can always send em back to ebay, or start doing work on the side.

ben working alot in my shop. really messed up. crap, guess we should find somewhere else
thanks
