Rebuilding/Beefing a TH400?

ditto on the th475... they came in motorhomes and large trucks.

my dad was looking at a motorhome with a th475 in it stock.

The CC dually that I drove for the Asshat Jackson had a TH475 in it according to the trans guy who did the intial service on it when we bought it. Could it be that Kraco kilt the original 400 and had a 475 installed in it's place?

I'm always hearing the same thing that good shops hate B&M parts and will only go with transgo stuff...
What is a shift kit? A new seperator plate that you drill some holes in depending on if you want stage 1 or stage 2. a couple of springs to go in the valve body and maybe the main prv valve. thats about it. A metal plate and a spring or two. maybe leave out a check ball. pretty easy stuff.

The shift kit for my AOD is a lot more complicated than that. What one of those trans guys told me was that there are usually two ways to build a shift kit. The cheap way and the proper way. And the B&M can be counted on to do it the cheep way which usually is detrimental to the long term life of the trans.

Most likely..... What kind of truck was the cc dually? they usually came in service trucks that are rated for a much higher load than the trucks that roll of the gm showroom. Like in tow trucks etc. I really doubt the th475 cam stock on a 3500. As far as i know they were limited to motorhomes and service trucks.

You'll have a hell of a time trying to bust it... those things are beef x 4.

Back when Kraco (stereos) sponsored an Indy car team they had a T-car (test car). This was the transporter for it until the Asshat Jackson bought it. Towed a 12k lbs net 42' long, extra wide, extra tall Chaparral gooseneck trailer. The rig spent it's whole life prior to my taking it to Chicago going btwn Long Beach and Willow Springs Raceway, most likely up and down the Agua Dulce grade on CA 14.

TH475 was used in 1 and 2 ton vehicles begining in 1971. It can be found in school buses, motor homes, and those funny looking delivery vans.

Here's something else that I forgot. If you want full manual reverse pattern valve body with compression braking, get one of these. It is an exact replica of Art Carr's at half the cost :D

would this be the only rebuild kit i would need, or would i still have to purchase more parts. I'm asking because i need to swap out tail shafts so while i have it open i want to freshen it up.
