Hello all. I am rebuilding a 1989 k5 blazer that I dug out of the desert. There were only remnants of the original wiring harness so we changed the harness and the ecm that came with the new/used harness, and we cannot get fuel to the motor. We can get it there if we power the fuel sending unit directly and power the throttle body and pour gas in it. So, we are deleting the ecm and the throttle body and going back to a carb. I am looking for help with if the wiring harness from motor city k5 that is a 27-circuit painless harness will work for my year if we delete the ecm and go back to a carb. I am also open to suggestions to make the switch.

Welcome @ wolfwoman.

Where abouts in AZ ?
If you wish to try to get the tbi working, we can certainly help.
We can help with carb conversion too.
I need to look at that harness. 27 sounds like more than you need. Not sure if they mean fuses, or total circuits.

We are in Tucson.

Why not figure out the fuel pump issue? Would be easier and less expensive.
We have already gone over the wiring and changed the ecm, so the conversion is the next best option. It has been sitting for an additonal 2 years because of this issue and I would like to get it running.

You may still need to run an electric fuel pump, if the block isn't machined for a mechanical pump, or cam is missing the pump eccentric.

That is the plan for to run wiring for the electric fuel pump. That seems like the easiest solution.
