rebuilding my 350, Whats the best setup for off roading?

An RPM manifold probably isn't going to cost you any torque anyway. It's not that much taller and it is still dual plane.

If I ever buy another intake it will be a performer RPM. Only down side is no exhaust gas crossover.

Whaa?? that's not how ya spell Bullsh!t. LOL J/K
That is the same conclusion I came to.
The only real debate I have now is weather to get the regular RPM or the Air Gap.
Not that I belive or think it will make anymore power but it is one cool lookin manifold.
In Z3PRese it has good asdetics... /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Ahhhhh, got it. I know I need to replace my valve cover gaskets, and when I had the eng. out a couple months ago, there was a lot of oil sludge all over the back of it. Maybe the intake gasket is shot /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif I am going to replace my stock intake with an EPS manifold soon so it'll get done anyway. I'm not sure of the year of the block, but I do know that it's a 2 piece rear main seal. Would those have that second oil pressure switch?

The Weiand Stealth is a great intake. I only brought up the Action plus becouse someone was talking about a Edelcrap that was spreadbore.

Jeeze Paul read the whole thread not one post.
To sum it up again.. I'll type slowly so you can follow.
W e i a n d d o e s n ' t p u t o u t a s p r e a d b o r e/ h i g h r i s e m a n i f o l d.
Now since that lost ya I'll sum it up again.
I refuse to use a Holly or other square bore carb on a 4x4.
Even if I was partial to them I would still use a Q-jet because that is what would be suited to my combo.
Small primary's = good throttle responsce at lower RPM's and at WOT it is capable of 750 CFM.
There is no doubt in my mind as to what this plant will do.
Bash Ebrock all ya like I don't care. Fork over the $$ and I will build ya any plant ya want.
I have ran all 4 of those intakes all have done me well over the years.
For the record Edelbrock has always done fine by me.

Bwaa haa haa haa haa
Ya 11K of posts and I have trouble seeing all your plant posts.
Get back to me bro whan ya have something useful to add.
Untill then. STFU
Or give me dyno #'s on them both, ones that ya built not click and paste.
Make me a convert..
When ya build 40 or so plants with all the different stuff availible and post up the results or make me belive ya have done so I wil listen to ya.
Myself...
I went through my box today and got 45 pairs of rod boots from engine kits.
I threw away a coffe can of them last week.
An engine kit gives ya one pair.
Nuff said.
Tell me what I need to do again??

[/ QUOTE ] WTF, My K5 is stock under the hood and thats just fine. Now you want to talk built motors ??? I've built pleanty over the years. Last one I built was a 355 that produced over 400 HP on pump gas and was still very streetable. By the way, it was built 100% Edelcrap free, LOL. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif Look what this arguement is over !!! So what, I won't use Edelbrock. Is that really something to argue over ?? Yes, I bash Edelbrock by calling it Edelcrap, no big deal. I don't bash on anyone that uses thier products. It's just my personal prefrence to use World Products, Dart Machinery, Weiand, Holley, MSD, Pete Jackson, Eagle Specalitys, TRW, Comp cams, Crower, Offenhouser, and Barry Grant products instead of Edelcrap. Don't you belive everybody has a right to thier own opinion ???

On a side note the last time I was blasting up a dune it was not at 1500 RPMs, the same with with blasting up a gooey clay hill or across the mudflats.
Not everyone that shifts into 4 lo or high is trying idle over the rock of Gibralter.
But with that set up it should be just fine at the lower RPM's.

[/ QUOTE ]

the point you missed seems to be that at high rpm you are obviously making the obstical
BUT
when the going gets tough and the motor starts getting sucked down lower
and lower
to 'make it or stuck' time
you will be at the bottom of the powerband
so this is the point you should be trying to make as much power as possible
if the motor is able to wing into a higher rpm you will not miss 10 or even 50 hp at 7000
I doubt you will hardly ever load the engine up above 5000 so why match your components to that area
oh, and no cam makes power from idle to 7000 unless idle is 3500

ok back to the true topic a budget build of a sbc. let stop pissin on others posts to prove our individual points/preferences..... enough said.
I have built 3 sbc in the past 18 months and first off your wise in choosing to go with a rebuilt over a gm crate! Now look on ebay for your kit, you can purchase the WHOLE rebuild kit, Felpro gaskets, king bearings, speed pro rings,"quality rods, "quality KB pistons,"quality cam-lifters,timing set etc. "EVERYTHING" & a nice set of Dart street beater (165cc runner 2.02-1.60 heads) for like 700.00 so then you have the block work, balance, assembly to do and it's done for around 1600.00, if you want to pay 1000.00 you can get the WHOLE BALANCED assembly "new" so you don't have to use your crank. I have looked everywhere for a better deal and you just can't beat it! 1000.00 for rotating assembly, heads and everything else you need. Good luck but if nothing else just do some looking on there , you can't go wrong! /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
