Well tore the old 350 out of my recently bought 77 k5 and am rebuilding it. Looking for some input on what I am thinking of changing up. Going with some 165cc dart iron eagle heads edelbrock performer rpm cam and intake manifold. Edelbrock 650 cfm thunder avs carb with an electric choke. Open to suggestions or comments...I just don't know much about engines and this is the set up that I have come up with. The only thing I would rather not change are the heads cause I'm getting a good deal on them.

Anyone got any thoughts on this set up? I am new to engines but everything i have found points to this working well and everything fitting together easily.

the 165cc heads are a good choice for a mild small block. If you go too big the engine will only want to make power at very high rpm and low end will have no responce.

We need more info though in order to steer you in a good direction for your cam. Such as what rpm range do you want, and what do you cruise at? What transmission do you have? What are your gears? What size tires?

I have the 4spd manual saginaw that came with the truck. As well as the stock gears. Currently have 35 inch tire and am going to stick with those. Not looking to go over 55 mph I live a mile from work so it will be my daily driver. This is my first 4x4 so just looking for a fun truck.

Are you talking about the infamous 4speed overdrive? If you are that is an extremely rare option. If not then you have the SM465 with a granny or Low first gear.
