Suitable for recovery, or as I've lightly used, dragging stuff around the yard :D

It's premade -- bought this back before I got my welder -- so while it's not uber-engineered like I make 'em, it's decent. The ring is actually 5/8" solid rod, bent around and welded inside a 2" tube, looks like .187"-ish wall.

If the pix aren't obvious, it's right about 9" long and the ring is 2" inside the long way, 'bout 1 3/8" inside sideways.

This and a shackle would be a little slicker than just putting your strap into the receiver and pinning it, plus you can hook a chain hoist to it and pull transmissions through mud :haha:

It was powdercoated and that's a bit scratched -- I got it on a scratch and dent deal -- and it has some surface rust on those spots, but I mean LIGHT rust, like would come off with sandpaper, wouldn't even need a wirewheel. Plus, umm, it's SUPPOSED to get beat up!

I've never actually used it for anything heavy; most I ever did was pull a TH350/NP203 around the side yard with my Amigo. (Now that I have a welder I did up one with solid 2x2 stock and a shackle off a 2 1/2 ton military truck :deal: and use that to drag stuff.)

ANYWAY, I donno, call it $20 plus the ride. I take Paypal and have 300+ Ebay feedback and have been here forever etc etc.

PM me or email dremu-at-yahoo.

Oh yeah, and it comes with a free hitch pin :pimp: -- I mean, some place charge five or six bucks just for that! :haha:

Shipping to 42104?

Figure on 4# boxed... wow, more than I thought. Fedex Ground (my preference, 4 days) is a bit less than ten bucks.

The USPS Flat Rate Priority box is nine bucks, and supposedly would get there in two days.

PM me if you wanna do it either way (though, duh, the USPS looks like the better deal even if I *do* have to go the post office, which I loathe =))

I may have jumped the gun a bit. I better make sure my hitch and the shackle flip (w/ 56" or 64" springs) I am planning to do this spring are compatible first - and that opens a whole 'nother bunch of questions. It would be just like me to buy something for the hitch and then toss the hitch. :D If it is still available when I have wrapped my brain around those issues, I'll hit you up. If somebody else wants it in the mean time - let 'em have it. Thanks.

OMG.....It's turning into a bidding WAR!!!!

I need to go scour beneath the couch cushions again, just in case I'm outbid!!!

:usaflag:

Yeah, ya know any of y'all coulda had it 'fore ... I coulda even been argued on price. And now you're being silly :shame: :dunno:

You do know that somebody is gonna pay nine bucks to ship this even if the ending bid is $3.29 :haha:

Greg, is this gonna be like those 15" spinner inserts and be a gag gift at the raffle for BlazerFest '08?

Don't worry, the fun is just beginning.

But now its fun, before it was boring....

Snort. Should I offer that if the bidding goes above $30 I'll include a free ballpeen hammer? :haha:
I first read this as Ball pen ,like a old Bic pen.And fell over laughing.. :haha:

Besides as long as I dont bid over $10 I`ll get it cheaper than you 1st asked for it... :D

.....for the record, if anyone spoils our fun by choosing the "Buy It Now" option I'm going to drop the moderator hammer on them with some CK5 vacation time.

Time to go check the ashtrays in my cars for more loose change.

ps. Love the questions buyers are asking on your eBay auction!!!! :haha:

How come the B-I-N is still there? I thought the B-I-N went away with the first bid ... did Ebay change that at some point?

Yeah, for those not paying attention (does anybody care besides the two or three of us? :haha: ) the questions look like ...

Q: This looks really cool, do you think it will work on a Jeep?

A: Yes, it would work on a Jeep, as long as the Jeep has a chrome-plated Class 17 hitch bolted to the body with 4-40 hardware, and a dual Hi-Lift mount on the hood.

Q: I'm running a Dana 35 rear axle, do you think that it's strong enough to withstand the awesomeness of this item, or should I upgrade first?

A: Well, this primarily depends on whether the axle is stock or has been upgraded. There are two primary factors in axle strength: the ring and pinion and the axle ends.

Make sure the ring and pinion are chrome-plated for maximum beef.

Also, you'll want a full-floating axle. Semi-floating axles have a vent line from the differential, so that when you do water crossings, the water doesn't get into the axle and rust the chrome on the R&P.

A full-floating axle uses positive air pressure (from your ARB refrigerator's air compressor, for instance) into that same place on the differential. This will actually allow the axle to float on water due to the difference in pressure, keeping the chrome safe and maximizing traction.

Q: Four pounds is a little heavy for me. Is there anyway you can machine some weight off of it before i bid on it. With how heavy my rig already is i need to make sure i don't add much more weight. Is it possible to make the tube portion about .035" thick? That should reduce a good amount of weight from it.

A: Yes, I think with a toothbrush and appropriate polishing compound, it would be possible to machine the steel down to a minimum thickness, providing lighter weight without materially reducing the strength.

God help us if anybody NOT in on this thread reads those and thinks we're serious ... I may get some FLAMING emails from Jeep people .. or worse, Chevy people who want to explain FF axle to me =))

Cheapskate :deal:

And the ballPEEN thing is a running joke for Greg... Scott '4x4HIGH' has this issue with people who don't own a ballpeen hammer, so any time Scott builds a motor for you, you end up getting one ... Greg and I now both have one... I should tell that BP71K5 guy to get one =))

For the record, the ballpeen hammer started with Greg when i was helping him work on his rig and i asked him for a hammer and he handed me a FRAMING hammer. Framing hammers are for construction with wood not working on vehicles with steel. :D

If GoldenPalace.com gets wind of this auction, they may swoop in and bid $50,000!!!! Let's hope this doesn't get enough media attention to show up on their radar screens.

Yeah, well, at least I had a regular hammer that without the cross-hatching on the face :P
