Whats the biggest class available for a K30? I see class IV hitches all over but does anyone make a class V?

Anyone got pics of class IV or V on their rigs? I want to see what the difference between the two are.

I'm trying to find the beefiest receiver hitch I can for my '87 V30 as I'm using it for a hauler.

We had a 95 1 ton 4x4 ( I know apples and oranges) that had a reese V5 on it. Did you consider a 5th wheel style ? No pics of the 95, but it was a reese.

No 5th wheel or gooseneck please. Just standard receiver type towing. I'm just wanting to haul one vehicle at a time.

you can get a class V but they have a 2-1/2" reciever, instead of the more popular 2" which is class IV. My 96 had the class IV, which was rated at 10,000gross/1000tongue. If you use a weight distributing system it bumps it up to 12000/1200 (highly recommend this if your pulling anything over 5000lbs. anyway.

Pulling a single car, you should be fine with a class IV. I tow my fully loaded K5 plus camoing gear and a bunch of tools with my company F250 and it does it very well with the IV.

Wes, I think that's your answer right there on why you don't see many Class V hitches
I didn't realize there were 2.5" receivers. I think I'll stick with class IV.

Anyone know of more brands than what I list below:

Valley
Reese
Redneck
DrawTite

I went to the local Agri Supply and picked up a Curt Manufacturing hitch. It's a V-5 rating, good to 10K. I think it was like 130 bucks.

Just found this:

Class 5 Receiver Hitch- XDR
-The Extra Duty Receiver Hitch Hitches designed for the toughest SUVs and pickup trucks on the market
(view vehicle application chart)

The XDR Series Class V is the heaviest rated 2" receiver hitch in the industry. XDR receiver hitches handle up to 15,000 lb with 16,000 lb weight distribution and tongue weights up to 1,600 lb. As part of the XDR series, a complete line of accessories including ball mounts and pintle mounts are available for complete maximization of your towing system. (view weight ratings chart)

i wouldnt trust uhaul for a lawn mower trailer.

i just fixed a 08 toyota truck with around 7-8k miles on it.

he had them install the hitch and wiring kit. thay said no kit avalible direct plug in style. thay did the cut/scotch lock and tape job. all lights were screwed up after that.

i fixed it with removing all there crap and draining the water from the rest of the harnness and heat shring butt conectoring it all back together along with the wires thay tryed that didnt work for lights.

then got a direct plug in kit and it works fine. and uhaul said thay didnt make them for those. :doah:

Does U-haul have their own hitches, or re-badge someone else's?
My '87 V30 has a U-Haul brand hitch on it now but it's coming off. The frame mounts aren't long enough back beyond the shackle hangers to be strong enough, IMO. It's the short kind. Probably will put it up here for sale whenever I get it off someday.
