I'd like to get a creeper that isn't just flat on the ground. The crew cab is too tall for a flat creeper, even the one I put larger casters on. It's not quite tall enough to sit under for some tasks, especially welding with a helmet on. I was looking at some of the reclining creepers, but it seems like a lot of them are just moving the head area. Like at best would get your head and shoulders elevated, but not the entire torso. Anyone have suggestions for a creeper that would hold your entire upper body up more like a chair?

Here ya go.

$2400 beans! :yikes:

@mrk5 I don't know what kind of creeper you have but mine has a metal, ladder-like frame with the crossmembers bent downward slightly so the cushions are recessed a bit (presumably for low vehicles). What about flipping the frame over with the bent crossmembers now rising above the side rails and installing the cushions on top, between the difference in the frame and the change of what side the cushions are installed on you may gain 3" or so. :dunno:

They have a similar one for 1/3 of the cost that are manually adjusted . Still way expensive. But if you are working on vehicles all day, every day, think about how much better you would feel in the long run. One could get a lift cheaper than the creeper I linked. Probably why you never see cool electric creepers.

I don't know if that would be enough. I added big casters to a creeper similar to what you describe but it's still not quite there.

Yeah, I didn't think that would be enough but it is a potential freebie mod. It's kinda like a Jeep axle flip where you may gain more than expected because you end up on the other side of the creeper frame.

If it's mostly for you're lifted truck, you could slip a piece of 1" plywood (or 2) between the frame and cushions too.

Just did the Ck5 creeper lift kit. It's actually sweet. 7" at the cushion. Thanks @nvrenuf

Seems like a fairly common design. The powerlift one seems cool, but I can see air hoses, cords, clothes or whatever getting caught in it. I wonder if it's rated to lift you and a transmission?. Of course at that price point, a lot of us would consider adding power features to something like what's posted above. Just so you can fine tune your position without sliding out, adjusting and trying again. Plus, the power lift robs you of your core and leg exercise you would normally get by running for another socket 16,000 times.

I had one of those. The wheels suck and the threaded inserts strip out with normal use. The wheels pull out of them. I have welded threaded plates to the bottom and put bigger, bearing casters on them. The wheels do not have bearings.

Then I loaned it to a friend and it "disappeared" from his garage.

Yeah that's more like I was thinking. I was curious how well they worked for the cost. What @ktmoutfront posted is about what I suspected/feared.

This seems like a good one

I don't think I ever bought a creeper that had decent wheels.
I have upgraded some.
I even upgraded my casters on my engine hoist

Northern tool fat guy creeper :waytogo:
I got one just because it was on sale and the head that tilted up.
The casters are great.
Best I've ever had on a creeper anyway.
