lookin to pick up a CB... any suggestions on something that isnt too fancy but will work well and not cost too much?

thanks

A Cobra 25 LTD is a decent radio that is easy to use and dependable. You should be able able to find one new for about $80.

If you want a less expensive radio, the Uniden Pro-510XL is a good radio.

The 25 will work, but for a strait AM CB (Non sideband) I've always liked the 29 LTD Classic that was made in the Philippines. You can see where it was made on the tag on the back of the radio. The Philippines Cobra 29 LTD Classic is one of the best strait AM CB's out there in my honest opinion. I'd watch Ebay for one. Now if you want sideband, the 148 is a good radio too.

I got my Uniden PC78LTW sent to my house next day for $100 even. I believe the radio was $80 then $20 shipping. I love it and it has a built in SWR meter and a way to adjust it so I just hooked everything up, hit the mic and then adjusted the SWR's until they were in the green w/ my setup. Easy as pie and it works great! W/ my 102" SS whip it has a really good range too.

where did you get your 102"?

Radio Shack has them, just ask them and they'll get it out of the back. They don't advertise that they have them but if you go in and ask they always seem to have some in the back. If they say they don't or don't seem to know what you are talking about ask someone else, that's what I did. The first girl said that they didn't have them so I asked the lady who looked in charge and she walked to the back room and walked right to a big pile of them, lol.

102" SS whip from a quick google search.

That works too, but if you have a local RadioShack it's worth it to get it there. Plus I don't think I paid that much for mine, I believe it was $20.

Yep, $20 at my local Radio Shack too. If your shack doesn't have them, maybe they could order one?

Tell them catalog # 21-903
