What kind of Carburetor can I get for my 1986 K5 w/305? In the near future I will be swapping in a 350 so I would like to get one that is compatible with both engines. Any suggestions?

If you take it offroad and get it tilted or bounced in any way shape or form. QUADRAJET.

The Carter carb is KICKASS! Nothing to ever break inside, completely tuneable with the strip kit.

I agree with the DepDog. Get a Q Jet. Once you get it tuned right, you shouldn't have to worry about it for a while.

But the Carter is allready tuned right and you never have to worry about it at all.

I wanted to change my carb too. I wanted a carb that I could really get to know and tune by myself. I posted an online poll and here are the results: http://www.misterpoll.com/results.wga?id=152588856

I bought Doug Roe's Q-jet book. I ended up installing a new Edelbrock Q-jet 750cfm model #1902 all bymyself. I'm very happy with it. I'm able to tune it/rebuild it by myself also. Please, don't call them Quadrajunks. It only shows that you don't know anything about them. And remember, the carb is just a part of what makes you go fast. If the rest of your engine is not built for performance, you won't go fast with a great carb.

I was also considering the Edelbrock performer carbs, which are Carters with the Edelbrock name stamped on them. Everyone in this forum who had used them told me to stay away from them because they will flood uphill or downhill. I'm not saying they are bad, they were just not designed for off-roading.

Gotta go projection
670 CFM two barrel with O2 sensor feedback
Cost $800 complete use 25% off carparts.com and only $600
More then a carb but.
1)Runns better cold.
2)Runs on all inclines
3)Better gas milage
4)Auto adjusts for altitude
5)Tune from inside cab.

Just cannot be beat for the money
Just don't run the feed back loop when AIR injection is operating.
So at emission time go with air and no feedback and just put a meter on the O2 sensor to tune it perfect then after emissions pull belt off air and run the O2 sensor to keep it running at ideal mixture.

You put it on in a day and will never be sorry.
Beats the hell out of any carb.

Don't you already have a Quadrajet? Just rebuild it and stay legal and have the best carb for your truck without spending any more $.

What ever you do don't waste your money on a Holley carb, I've never seen any have as many problems as Holley

I couldn't agree more, the quadrajet has been more reliable, and functional than<font color=purple> "edlebroke"<font color=black> or<font color=purple> "horribly"<font color=black> for me.

Go Quad, the damned things will run upside down (almost), had the Knight tilted every direction and angle I could imagine and it just kept going, and going, and going. WK
