I have an uncut dash in my '71 Blazer, and i am looking to replace the junk aftermarket radio that the PO put in. Can anybody recommend one that is a direct fit and has a USB connection for MP3 (preferably in the rear) and remote control? I would like to work it out without cutting the dash.
Thanks

I wound up ordering this, which was suggested by a brother on the 67-72 forum.

I sure don't mind, I didn't make up the price. It was about $290- including shipping. It cost more than hacking the dash and dropping in a nice $70- unit, but it had everything I was looking for.

i hope the sound is acceptable. i am used to a cheap $70 Kenwood system in my topless YJ Wrangler that sounds great, so i hope for $290- it is at least as good as that one.

Well, I finally got it installed, and it was a bit of a hassle. I was too lazy to disconnect the cables and wires on the climate control head, so i just lowered it and pushed it back as best as i could. it was a pain trying to squeeze the radio past it, but i finally made it happen. I was cussing too much to take photos, but here is the finished installation. It looks low-key, so i dont think anyone will be looking to climb in and rip it out of the dash, especially since it has old fashioned knobs, and we know that aint cool to younger kids.

The fit is great, and the looks blend in pretty well, not like some hack job with a face plate after cutting the dash. The sound is OK, but it is clearly not the Kenwood i am used to in my other car. As long as it is clear when playing loud with no top, I am happy.

I just got one of these about 1 year ago but did not install it until about a couple of months ago, seemed fine but within 2 weeks the plug in the front that connects the i-pod stopped working so now since the radio out in the desert is non existent all it does is plug the hole where a working stereo should be.:doah:

That's not good:doah: Joe, is your's still working? I'm in the market for something like this, but don't want to pat $300 for a filler plate.

Update::::: The radio I said quit working , WELL:whistle:............ Seems it was Operator Malfunction:doah:. With that said it is now a good working system. I did however need to use a hard setting silicone to keep the knobs on.

Yeah man, it still works great, I mostly use the USB connection for my flashdrive of MP3's, but radio does work on the rare time i tune it in for news.

I am glad I found this thread, I had been looking at Retro radio, this gives me a better option I think. I just ordered Custom Autosound's USA-630, will add the Bluetooth adapter later.
I'll post how it goes

Well I got classic autosound USA 630+ Bluetooth add on. Got it all installed. Sounds fine to my damaged hearing.
Made a couple of stationary bt phone calls other party can hear me fine, will see how well the road. Still learning controls so I hope the couple of quriks I noticed are operator error.
