Hi all,

I am looking for a good rec to work on my 1970 k5. Gone to a couple places and they seem overwhelmed or unwilling to dig into working on the truck. Runs rough and has transmission issues, but I think it has potential.

any recs for mechanics in the Kansas City area I should consider?
Thanks everyone.

What specific issues do you have?

Runs very rough; trouble changing gears; and I would love someone to inspect and recommend order for repairs.

yeah shifting an NP205 between 2 and 4 wheel and back can be tricky. Should be at a complete stop to shift in or out, defiantly need to stopped for 4w Low. Trans in Park or neutral. To shift out of 4w it sometime helps to turn the steering wheel back and forth, this helps loosen up binding in the drive lines.
Trans is turbo 350? or has it been updated to ....? If TH350 there is a vacuum valve on back right side of case just above the pan. make sure the vacuum hose is connected from valve to metal tube. If vacuum hose is all gooey the vacuum valve is ruptured, and needs to be replaced. Also check the other end of metal tube should be connected to intake manifold vacuum port behind carburetor.
either end of hose being off or vacuum valve leaking can cause the engine to run rough. So lets start there and see.

Thanks Wes. If it gets much beyond changing the oil I am out of my depth! I am really good at taking parts off; putting them back together correctly, not so much.
