I'm looking for a set of inexpensive headers and I wanted to see who had good luck with what considering fitment. I heard a rumor that Camaro headers would "tuck" the exhaust up a little closer to the body. I also want something that won't disintegrate the second it hits water and something that can support some flow (think Supercharged 383). Would the Jegs or Summit brand stuff be ok?

Help?

Hedman 69230, they fit very well and tuck up nicely (i.e. no header to shackle bolt clearance issues). Strip the paint off of them and spray them with BBQ paint and you're good to go.

I used the Summit headers and they fit with no problems. I've had them for almost 3 years now and they still look good...I painted them with high temp paint first.
I'm sure they will wear out from the inside before some of the more expensive brands will...I'll just deal with that when it happens. No problems yet..

Cheap headers suck bad!!! Save your pennies and wait for a good set. I used headman elite ceramic coated. They never leaked, all the spark plugs cleared, the ceramic coating lasted 2 years and they still looked new when I sold the truck. Ceramic coating kept under hood tempretures way down and helped keep the heat in down to the O2 sensor mounted in the bolt on piece that conects to the exhaust pipe

Well what is considered cheap headers? Right now I'm leaning toward those Hedman 69230. They seem inexpensive enough to fit my immediate budget. The exhaust leak is pretty bad and I still have to fix the 4WD, possibly fix the TCase crossmember (seems to hang pretty low), fix the gauges (none of them work), and the list goes on for repairs before I can start getting into mods then high dollar mods.

My definition of cheap headers is something like the Flowtech headers. Usually around 100 bucks. Some guys on here run them, but I dunno about how they fit.

The Hedmans are about 75 bucks more, but I haven't had any problems with them at all. They fit great.

You can spend more on set that's got thicker flanges, thicker tubes, etc, but since you're on a budget (like I was when I built my 355) I'm gonna say the Hedmans are a good compromise.

for a lower budget header, hooker comps have always treated me right..
