recovery strap

i was pullin the cable out on my winch today to straighten/tighten it up and the end got ripped off...and the cable is in pretty bad shape as it is with sections every 1 to 2 feet that are frayed....so my question is until i get a new cable can i use a sufficient enough recovery strap maybe 50 feet or so in its place, just temporary?

i dont really see why i wouldnt work...anyone have any thoughts?

not sure about the strap deal, but at work we always go to the rigging shop for new winch cable

well around here there really isnt a place to get the cable...you dont think the recovery strap would work out ?

try these guys out cheep and good stuff. sell to anyone not just shops. we use the import cables on the tow truck. 1 a year and thay take a beating.

Didn't you just hook up your winch for the first time a couple of days ago? How did you screw up your cable already?

the winch has always been on my truck since i got it....i just never used it.
