redneck ram style P/S install question

I'm installing a ram assist on my Jimmy using DIY4X's cap on the steering box.

I have some steel braided/cloth covered hydraulic / air brake hose ( 1005R )and fittings laying around that I was thinking about using for my two hoses that go to the ram cylinder.

The hose is 5/16" and the fittings are #6 aeroquip.... will these be OK or do they need to be # 8 ??? ( 3/8" )
