I picked this up today. It needs a little work, but I see the potential. What I need help with is

1. Does anyone have the bow tie trim piece that fits on the lid?
2. How should I go about removing the awful tan paint? It is flaking and looks like someone tried removing it before and started to damage the skin. This will be painted blue eventually.
3. The trim ring, what is it made out of? Can I use paint stripper to remove the paint from it?
4. Did these consoles have any dividers or bins in them?

Bump, would one of those citrus type paint strippers work, but be gentle enough to not destroy the console? The whole console is made out of a hard plastic, correct?

If you planned on repainting it, you should be able to use whatever kind of paint stripper you want.

I probably wouldn't use air craft stripper but I wouldn't think any average paint stripper would hurt the plastic it's made of

Find somebody who does blasting and have it bead blasted or powder blasted. Then dye the color you want

That trim is metal. I'd try some WD40 and a green scotch brite pad. Should clean right up.

I would probably have it gently soda blasted due to the texture, which ideally you want to keep. LMC does a repop...but it's not an exact copy and doesn't use the metal trim, and the metal OE piece doesn't fit.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try WD40 and some of the citrus stripper stuff first.
