Reg. Cab speaker location...

Why not just bedliner your current dash? I've seen it done and it looks good. I could dig up a pic if you're interested. Also, for the best sound stay away from metal boxes. Fiberglass or MDF sealed with bedliner would be a better option. If you had to do metal you'd need to sound deaden the whole thing for decent sound.

Well, on the dash, I'd like something that isn't going to warp easily, plus if water got up underneath it, it'd rot out pretty easily. It's possible that I could just take a new dash pad, and coat the underside liberally with some poly or something to seal it really well...almost turning it into a fiberglass-like material.

I know metal isn't the best material for speaker boxes, but mainly because it has resonate properties. I'd take steps to kill the resonance, namely, I'll probably paint the whole piece in Lizard Skin, apply Dynamat to the inside, bedliner the outside, and then make sure the area behind the speaker was properly stuffed with poly-fill.

Fred Sanford, you are the man of the hour.... Thank you! Im just going to buy those and be on my way... lots easier than fabin somehting

with the aftermarket, you can mount 6x9 speakers. a lot more common size than the factory size, which was 4x10

Add to that, I think 6x9's sound better, and as you said it's more common, meaning much more selection to choose from.

You can see where I put my 5 1/4" speakers in this pic.

Did you just cut holes in the sheet metal or are those kick pods? I can't really tell. Either way, it's where I'm wanting to put mine.

Aftermarket? There are aftermarket grills to put a 6x9 in that rear corner?

Nice. Good thing I got too busy last night to bid on the other ones, I'll have to get a set of those. They dont look like they fit very nicely though. Does anyone know of anyone else who makes them for 6x9's?

I can't tell on the fit, as I don't have a truck cab to compare. However, the price is cheap enough to justify trying them. If it were me, I'd email the seller to try to get a better idea of how they'll fit.

Worst case scenario, re-eBay 'em if they don't work and warn others :D

i have seen them before, not these exact ones, but the aftemarket. they did not look too bad, besides, they are more or less hidden by the seat. it is just a bigger version of the factory ones. i will probably get some for my m1008.
