What does everyone say about rear disc brake brackets made from 6061-T6 billet?

Oh yeah, its all 1 piece, no spacers or bends in them.

real nice, but whats the cost compared to the others...?
Can't remember now as the machinist doesn't make them anymore. Not sure if I still have their email for info either.

I'd like to check into a machinist on this site to make some out of some steel billet.

Wes, those look really good.

Any chance they would get hot enough to warp?
Thats what I'm asking for opinions here for. Never ran these on anything yet. Not sure if I really want to as I'd rather have them in steel.

I do have another set of brackets like these, made from steel, but they are a little different as they fit a Ford rotor instead of the normal GM rotor. The only difference is the thickness of the material as the Ford rotor has a deeper "hat".

I think they would be way overkill and expensive if made out of billet steel though

I don't see any problem using them. Also aluminum dissipates heat faster than steel.

I bet they would be over $200 easily.

No, not that high. If I remember correctly, I think the aluminum ones were around $150 for the pair. Just can't remember an exact dollar amount.

The machinist originally made the steel ones to sell on eVilbay. When I got a set from him, I emailed him back with measurements/specs to fit a GM rotor and he made the aluminum ones for me, free of charge. He just wanted to get a prototype out and for me to advertise them. That fell thru because everyone was looking for cheaper mounts.

Billet "Steel" is always more expensive then Billet "Aluminum". The material cost may be more for the Aluminum, but the run time on steel is 2-3 times for the same part.
