Re: re geraring a 10 bolt
You have a few choices for rear ends. If you are getting one from the junkyard anyway, it is the ideal time to get more beef. Many 3/4-ton subs came with the s/f (semi-floating) 14B axle, which would be fine for your application. Although it is called 14B, it has nothing in common with it's f/f (full floating) big brother. With this axle, it would be possible to retain 6-lug wheels. I think it was also offered with 4.56 gears some years.
10 Bolt: 8.5" ring gear, 28-spline axles
14 Bolt s/f: 9.5" ring gear, 33-spline axles
14 Bolt f/f: 10.5" ring gear, full-floating design makes axle shaft diameter less important.
As another compromise, you might set up the front yourself and pay a pro to do the rear. I would buy gears from http://www.ring-pinion.com/
